DigitDash: Math Shooter is a fast-paced arcade shooter that mixes quick math solving with twitchy shooting mechanics. It is a mobile-only game, so you will not find it on Steam, Xbox, or Switch. The game first launched in early 2023, and you can grab it on Android through the Google Play Store or on iOS via the App Store. It has around 500,000 installs so far, which is solid for a niche math shooter. The best part? It is free to download and install. There are in-app ads that pop up between rounds, and you can pay to remove them for about $2.99. There are also optional in-game purchases for cosmetic skins and extra lives, usually ranging from $0.99 to $4.99. Nothing is forced, though. You can play the whole game without spending a dime if you do not mind the ads.

Playing DigitDash is simple but addictive. You control a little ship at the bottom of the screen, and enemies drop down with numbers on them. You have to shoot the correct answer to a math problem before they reach you. For example, if the problem is 7 x 8, you need to blast the enemy labeled 56. The faster you solve, the higher your combo and score. The best part is the rush you get when you are on a 20-streak and the problems get harder. My favorite part is the endless mode, where you just keep going until you mess up. It is perfect for short bursts on the bus or during lunch. The touch controls are responsive, and the difficulty curve feels fair. You can also play with one hand, which is great for a mobile game.

Compared to other math games like Math Shot or Math Ninja, DigitDash feels more like a real shooter and less like a quiz. Math Shot is slower and more educational, while DigitDash throws you into chaos. I recommend this game over those because it does not feel like homework. It feels like an arcade game that happens to use math. If you liked Math Ninja but wanted more action, this is your game. Also, it is not pay-to-win. You can just download it, install it, and have fun. The app runs smoothly on most Android phones, even older ones. Just be ready for a few ads unless you pay. For a free game, that is a fair trade.

features

  • Real-time math combat 🎯: You solve problems by shooting enemies, which makes math feel urgent and exciting instead of boring.
  • Endless mode with escalating difficulty 📈: Unlike Math Shot, which has fixed levels, this game keeps pushing you until you fail, so there is always a reason to try again.
  • One-hand portrait play 📱: Most mobile shooters need two hands, but this one is designed for quick sessions on the go, similar to how Math Ninja works but with better action.
  • Combo and streak system 🔥: Chaining correct answers gives you score multipliers, which adds a layer of risk and reward that pure quiz games lack.

pros

  • Addictive arcade loop 🕹️: The mix of math and shooting keeps you coming back. It is more engaging than Math Shot because you are always moving and reacting, not just tapping answers.
  • Fair free-to-play model 💸: You can unlock everything by playing, and the ads are not too intrusive. Compared to Math Ninja, which locks some modes behind paywalls, this feels generous.
  • Great for mental math practice 🧠: If you want to sharpen your quick calculation skills, this beats boring flashcard apps. The pressure makes you faster.
  • Lightweight and smooth ⚡: It does not eat up much storage or battery, which is rare for a shooter. You can install it on almost any Android device without lag.

cons

  • Repetitive after a while 😴: Once you hit high levels, the same enemy patterns repeat. Math Shot has more varied problem types, like fractions and geometry, while this sticks to basic arithmetic.
  • Ads can break your flow 🚫: The interstitial ads between rounds are annoying when you are on a hot streak. You can pay to remove them, but it still feels like a speed bump compared to Math Ninja, which has fewer ads.
  • No multiplayer or leaderboards 👥: You are always playing alone. Other math shooters like Math Duel let you compete with friends, so this feels lonely at times.
