Unpuzzle - Tap Away Puzzle is a casual puzzle game from HYPERCELL. If you have spent any time in the mobile puzzle space, that studio name probably rings a bell. This one is a pure mobile experience, built for touchscreens, so you will not find it on Steam, Xbox, or Switch. It launched on Android and iOS, meaning you can grab it from the Google Play Store or the App Store. I first came across it while scrolling through the Play Store looking for something light to kill a few minutes. The install count sits in the millions, which makes sense once you see how easy it is to pick up. The download is free, and the app runs on pretty much any modern Android phone without melting your battery. There are in-game purchases, usually a few dollars for ad removal or some coin bundles, but you never have to spend a cent to finish the levels. Ads pop up between stages, and they are the usual short video spots.

So how do you actually play this thing? Each level shows you a block of colorful pieces, and your job is to tap them away in the right order. A piece slides off only when nothing is blocking its path, so you have to read the board and plan your taps. Early levels are dead simple, but later stages get genuinely tricky and force you to think a few moves ahead. The best part for me is that moment when a messy board suddenly clicks and the whole thing unravels in one clean chain of taps. I also love that a round takes under a minute, so I can play while waiting for coffee or standing in line. You do not need a tutorial, and there is no timer breathing down your neck if you just want to relax.

Compared to stuff like Wood Block Puzzle or Blockudoku, Unpuzzle feels more like a logic puzzle and less like a numbers game. Those titles lean on matching and combos, while this app is all about spatial thinking. I would recommend it over similar tap-away games because the difficulty curve is fair and the boards stay readable even when they get crowded. It is not trying to be a deep strategy game, and that is exactly why I keep it installed. If you want a calm brain teaser that respects your time, give this one a download.

features

  • Simple tap controls 👆 - You only need one finger. Tap a free piece and watch it slide away, no swiping or dragging required.
  • Offline friendly 📴 - The app works without Wi-Fi, so it is perfect for flights, commutes, or anywhere your signal drops.
  • Satisfying chain reactions 🎉 - Clearing a long line of pieces in one go feels great, and the little animations sell the payoff.
  • Steady difficulty ramp 📈 - Compared to Blockudoku, Unpuzzle eases you in gently and saves the real head-scratchers for later levels.

pros

  • Easy to learn, hard to master 🧠 - The rules take ten seconds to understand, but later boards still make you stop and think.
  • Great for short sessions ⏱️ - Levels are bite-sized, which beats the longer grinds in Wood Block Puzzle when you only have a minute.
  • Clean, uncluttered look 🎨 - The colors are bright without being noisy, so your eyes never get tired tracking pieces.
  • Free to start 💸 - You can play a huge chunk of the game without paying, and the ads are not aggressive enough to ruin the flow.

cons

  • Ad interruptions 📺 - A video pops up between levels, and that gets old fast during a long play session.
  • Difficulty spikes 😤 - A few levels jump in complexity out of nowhere, which can feel unfair next to the smooth curve in similar puzzle apps.
  • Limited variety 🔁 - After a while the core loop repeats itself, and it lacks the extra modes you get in something like Blockudoku.
