I've been playing Pure Sniper: Gun Shooter Games on and off for a while now, and I gotta say, it scratches a specific itch for a mobile first-person sniper experience. This is a pure mobile game developed by Miniclip, so don't expect to find it on Steam, Xbox, or Switch – it's strictly for your phone or tablet. It first launched on the Google Play Store and App Store back in 2018, and it's amassed over 100 million installs on Android alone, which is pretty wild. The base game is free to download and play, which I appreciate, but yeah, it's loaded with in-app purchases and short video ads. If you want to skip grinding for the best sniper rifles or buy premium currency, you're looking at spending anywhere from a few bucks on small packs to maybe $20 or $30 for some of the bigger bundles. The ads pop up after almost every mission, though, so prepare for that if you're going free-to-play.

The core gameplay is simple: you are a sniper, you take contracts to eliminate targets from a fixed position. You are basically locked into a scope view, adjusting for wind, distance, and bullet drop. You swipe to aim, hold to steady your breath, and then fire. The best part for me has to be the satisfying "twang" and slow-motion bullet cam that follows a successful headshot – it never gets old. My favorite part, however, is the treasure hunt side events that give you free golden coins. Instead of just grinding the same story missions, these events let you gamble a bit of in-game cash for a chance to hit a big prize, like a legendary sniper rifle. It adds a little excitement between the standard contracts. You progress through urban, jungle, and arctic environments, taking out targets from corrupt cops to mob bosses while earning cash to buy and upgrade your weapons from a solid arsenal of rifles like the AWM, Intervention, and Barrett 50. Cal.

Compared to other sniper games on Android, Pure Sniper sits in a decent middle ground. Games like Sniper 3D are more chaotic – you're running and gunning with assault rifles and shotguns, not just sniping. That game feels way more arcade-y and less focused on the actual sniping skill. Then you have Hitman Sniper, which is much more strategic and has multiple targets in a single map where you need to use the environment and chain kills. Pure Sniper is simpler than that. It's a more casual, linear experience. I'd recommend it over Sniper 3D if you specifically want that pure sniper fantasy without all the other guns getting in the way. It's also less demanding on your phone's resources than something like Sniper Elite 4, which obviously doesn't even exist on mobile. If you just want to kill 10 minutes lining up a perfect shot without overthinking it, hitting the download button on the Google Play store for Pure Sniper is a solid choice. It's just reliable, repetitive fun.

features

  • Satisfying Bullet Cam 🎯: Every clean headshot triggers a slow-motion replay of the bullet hitting the target, complete with a satisfying sound effect. Unlike Sniper 3D, where kills often feel weightless, this makes each shot feel impactful and rewarding.
  • Weapon Upgrade System 🔧: You can buy and upgrade a range of real-world sniper rifles like the L96A1 and CheyTac M200. Each upgrade increases damage, accuracy, or stability. In Hitman Sniper, you just unlock new guns; here, you actually feel your starter rifle getting stronger as you invest cash into it.
  • Treasure Hunt Side Mode 🏆: A unique gambling-style minigame where you spend in-game dollars to open chests for big rewards like gold coins or rare weapon parts. It's a fun break from the linear missions and gives free-to-play players a real chance at premium gear without spending real money.

pros

  • Easy to Pick Up & Play 🕹️: The controls are super intuitive – just swipe to aim and tap to shoot. There is no complex movement or weapon switching like in Sniper 3D. You can literally jump into a mission within 10 seconds of installing the app from Google Play.
  • Great for Short Sessions ⏱️: Each contract mission takes less than two minutes to complete. Perfect for waiting in line or during a commute. Games like Hitman Sniper require more time investment to set up the right kill order, but Pure Sniper is instant action.
  • Decent Weapon Variety 🎨: Over 30 different sniper rifles to collect and upgrade, from the starting M40A5 to the futuristic Cyber Rifle. This is way more than what you get in Sniper 3D, which mostly reskins the same few guns. It keeps the grind feeling fresh.

cons

  • Aggressive Advertisements 📺: Seriously, after every single mission, you get a forced full-screen video ad. In Sniper 3D, at least you can close some ads immediately. Here, you often have to wait 15–30 seconds. It really breaks the flow when you are trying to grind for that next rifle upgrade.
  • Repetitive Mission Design 🔁: Almost every contract is identical: "Kill this guy before he escapes." There is very little variation in objectives compared to the puzzle-like setups you get in Hitman Sniper. You'll see the same three or four map types over and over after a few hours of play.
  • Pay-to-Win Progression 💰: The later levels require absurdly high damage rifles, and you simply cannot pass them without spending gold coins or real cash. The free-to-play grind becomes brutally slow around Chapter 6. This is less obvious in Sniper 3D, where you can brute-force most levels with any gun.
