Themes - App icons, Wallpapers is a customization tool from Lutech Ltd that lets you completely overhaul the look of your phone. If you're someone who gets bored of the same default icons and stock wallpaper day after day, this app gives you a quick way to refresh that feeling. It's basically a big collection of icon packs and HD backgrounds you can apply with a single tap. I downloaded it from the Google Play Store just to see if it could actually deliver something different. When you first launch it, the layout is pretty straightforward, and you don't get hit with a login screen or payment request right away. That first impression is nice because you can just scroll through the gallery without pressure. It has a decent number of free downloads, but like most apps in this category, there are in-app purchases and ads once you start digging deeper into premium sets.

The actual experience of using it is pretty smooth. You open the app, browse a grid of icon packs or wallpaper categories like abstract, nature, or dark themes, and then pick one that catches your eye. With wallpapers, you tap to preview, then hit apply, and it sets it directly to your home screen or lock screen. The icon packs work through your default launcher, so the first time you pick an icon set, the app asks you to install it and then you select it from your launcher's theme settings. That part could confuse someone who hasn't customized icons before, but the app does show a small guide pop-up. I did notice that sometimes the preview images load a bit slowly, especially on slower internet connections. One practical tip: if you want to avoid ads between wallpapers, you'll want to download a bunch at once instead of browsing one by one.

After using it for a week, my impression is mixed. For someone who likes switching up their phone's look every few days without paying for premium packs, this app works fine as a casual tool. The free selection is decent, but it's definitely not as polished as something like Zedge, which has a bigger community and fewer broken links. Where this app stands out is the fact that the icon packs actually match the wallpapers, so you get a cohesive theme instead of mixing random pieces. That little touch makes it feel more intentional. I'd probably keep it installed just for quick wallpaper changes, but if you're a heavy customization user who wants thousands of hand-curated icon sets, you'll outgrow it pretty fast. It's good enough to stay on my phone, but not the first app I open when I want to redesign my home screen.

features

  • 🎨 Unlike Zedge where you download wallpapers and icons separately, Themes actually bundles matching icon sets and wallpapers into coherent packs. This means when you pick a “Cyberpunk” theme, both your icons and background share the same color palette and style.
  • 🎨 The app lets you preview how the whole theme will look on your actual home screen before applying it. That's something that feels obvious but most wallpaper apps skip, leaving you to guess if the icons will clash with your chosen background.
  • 🎨 Icon packs installed through Themes can be applied directly from your launcher settings without needing a third-party icon changer app. That cuts out an extra step that apps like Vellum or Backdrops require.

pros

  • 👍 The free collection is surprisingly decent. You get access to a solid variety of abstract, minimal, and dark themes without paying a cent. Compared to other themes apps where all the good stuff is locked, this one gives you enough variety to keep things fresh.
  • 👍 The download speed for wallpapers is fast, and the images are saved in full resolution directly to your phone. Zedge sometimes compresses images on the free tier, but I didn't notice that here.
  • 👍 There's no account registration needed to use the basic features. You just install and go. That's a big plus when you compare it to apps that force you to sign up before you can even see the gallery.

cons

  • 👎 The ad placement is a bit aggressive. Every time you swipe between wallpapers in a category, a full-screen ad pops up about every third swipe. Zedge does this too, but you can at least preview everything without ads if you scroll slowly.
  • 👎 The icon pack selection is pretty small. There are maybe 30 or so icon sets, and after a week you've seen them all. If you're coming from an app like Icon Pack Studio or even Nova Launcher's community icon packs, you'll feel the lack of variety.
  • 👎 Some of the wallpapers look noticeably lower resolution on higher-end phones. A few abstract wallpapers that looked crisp on a 1080p screen turned out slightly pixelated on a 1440p display, which is disappointing for an app focused on visual customization.
